Today was such an amazing day. I woke up around 7:00 to get ready for an Easter Festival at Parkinson Rec Centre in Kelowna. At around 8:30 I arrived and met up with my friend Samantha, who is Miss Teenage Okanagan 2015 and the one that told me about this event. We were both stationed at the same bouncy house and quickly gained a long line of children excited to meet us and have their turn to jump around. We met so many kind people and tons of adorable children.

After a few hours we went for our lunch break. Not only was everyone at the festival including the volunteers served free pancakes, there was different toppings, drinks, cotton candy and popcorn!

We then walked around for a little while saying high to children and their parents and talked to some very fascinating people. The festival (put on by Victory Life) was overall an amazing experience full of happy children, amazing food, candy, and enthusiastic volunteers. The festival received so many wonderful donations for the food bank and the clothing drive was a huge success.

Miss Teenage Kelowna

Hi everyone, my name is Emily and I am Miss Teenage Kelowna 2015! I just want to say that I could not be more ecstatic, inspiring youth to follow their dreams and live life to the fullest is something I’ve always strived to do and winning a title is a huge leap toward this goal.

I remember the moment I found out. The feeling I had inside was like no other I had experienced in my lifetime. I wanted to scream, cry and jump up and down all at once. I could feel my heart pounding inside of my chest as the feeling of butterflies tickled my stomach. I couldn’t help but think of the road ahead. I had so much to do in so little time, but I was prepared to face any challenges that my come my way. I’m getting way ahead of myself though, first let me tell you a little about me and my life.

My kitten, Ted

I was born in the lovely Kelowna British Columbia, located in the rolling hills of the Okanagan Valley. At home I live with my mom, dad, brother, and kitten. I enjoy volunteering at a local hospital and having fun with friends in my spare time.¬†From a young age I have loved being on stage, mainly because in person I can be a little more on the quiet side, and being on stage gives me an outlet to express myself through. I always had a passion for being on stage, whether it be for a school play, a speech or to emcee our school’s talent show, but never did I picture myself participating in a pageant let alone being awarded the title of Miss Teenage Kelowna! Its an honour to be a title holder, and I hope to make the most of my year long reign.

This year will be eventful, motivational, and life-changing. I wish to make the most of this incredible journey and hope you will follow me throughout the year. I will post regularly, updating you on events I will be attending and challenges I face on the path to hopefully becoming the next Miss Teenage Canada.
